Guide: Convert DVD to MKV HD Video to Keep the High Quality

lol im out of the topic about games but just wanna help those who need this hope it will be useful for you... just follow the steps below....

Admin-Paolo Baroja Stay tune for more updates i noticed that non of you are leaving comments and not clicking on my ads it will be greatly appreciated if you those two i mentioned... thanks.

I figured I would share this here since I just went through this myself.. Many people complain that when they convert DVD to video and watch it on laptop or PC the quality gets bad.

How to resolve this issue? We can do so by converting DVD to MKV and other HD video formats. These HD videos are often bigger than standard video and maintain the high quality.

Part 1: What's MKV HD video?

An MKV HD video file is a Matroska file, the Matroska Multimedia Container is an open standard free Container format. It is similar in conception to other containers like AVI, MP4 or ASF, but is entirely open in specification, And the size is often much more bigger than common video for the HD code methods.

Part 2: How to convert DVD to MKV HD video to keep the high quality?

Here I listed a few good DVD to MKV converters I found on Google, they all have good output quality, can input DVD disk, DVD folder, IFO, ISO and support MKV HD video, but you can select a better one with special feature for your needs.

http://www.aimersoft.com/dvd-ripper.html#114: This DVD to MKV converter has been upgrade recently and added MT2S, TS, TP, TRP and MKV HD video formats into its output formats.

Important features:

1. Convert DVD to MKV, MP4, WMV, AVI, FLV, MOV, 3GP, 3GPP, MPG, RMVB, Xvid, ASF, WMA, M4A, MP3, AAC, OGG, MKA, AC3, WAV. (Available for iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune, etc)
2. Editing function: video cropping, trimming and effect adjusting;
3. Subtitle and Audio track select.
4. Chapters and Clips selecting, so you can choose any part of the DVD to convert and "merge into on file".
5. Conversion speed: 58 minutes. (DVD: Kungfu Panda).

http://www.mkvconverter.com/HQ-DVD-to-MKV-Concerter.html: This is a specialized DVD to MKV converter, the output format includes only MKV, a DVD to MKV converter for the people who have owned other DVD converters but not include MKV video in their outputs and the price is cheaper than other comprehensive DVD rippers.

Important features:

1. Convert DVD to MKV only.
2. Subtitle and Audio track select.
3. Conversion speed: 1 hour 18 minutes (DVD: Kungfu Panda)

http://www.avaide.com/dvd-to-mkv-convert.html

Important features:

1. Convert DVD to MKV, AVI, WMV, MP4, FLV, MOV, MPG, 3GP, MP3, AAC, OGG, WMA for iPod, PSP, Zune, etc.
2. Chapters selecting; Time trimming to select any part of the DVD.
3. Conversion speed: 1 hour 37 minutes. (DVD: Kungfu Panda)

OK, choose one to convert DVD to MKV HD video, then continue below and I will tell you how to play MKV in Windows Media Player.

Part 3: How to play MKV on Windows media player?

Many people who download a HD video file with the extension MKV will often try to play it back with video player software they have installed on their systems.

Most of the time this doesn't work. As it is based on DirectShow Windows Media Player will play back MKV HD video files perfectly if you have the proper codecs and filters installed.

A great help here is the Matroska Pack. This pack is an ideal solution for new users as it installs pretty much all you will need to play MKV HD video files.

You can get more details and download the Matraoka Pack from its official site: http://www.matroska.org/

Enjoy! ;)

one screen shot if enough coz if i post many screen shot my page will load slow like hell ^_^

Microsoft Announces Windows 7 SKUs Are Now Available

The following will be the actual new SKUs for the OS:

- Windows 7 Starter (limited to three apps concurrently)
- Windows 7 Home Basic (for emerging markets)

Speculation: Is an Xbox 360 Slim Likely for Microsoft in 2009?

Let's go back to the good old days of the last generation consoles... Dominating the gaming industry was the PlayStation 2 with its wide variety of games and superior support from 1st and 3rd party game developers.

The PS2 sold almost one million consoles within the first day of availability in Japan. It's no surprise that Sony and their PlayStation 2 were headed down the right track.

One day in September, Sony announced a new version of its PlayStation 2 line at an event in Tokyo, Japan. The new version was noticeably smaller and thinner than the original PS2. It included an upgrade that many Sony followers were waiting for: Built-In Ethernet.

Could this be a plan that Microsoft has taken under its wing? Many rumors of a slim version of the 360 have been debated over. While many believe it can't happen, Microsoft has a big history. Microsoft tends to create and enhance anything that will sell.

For example, it's different versions of the Xbox 360. Microsoft is selling its Xbox 360 in three different versions, called the Arcade, Pro and Elite.

The reason why they chose to put three versions of the console for sale was not to confuse customers, but to instead give consumers a choice to buy the lesser version if they don't want to spend the money, or to buy the expensive version to get the most features and usability.

This was indeed a selling plan because if they had one console that was expensive, some consumers would turn away for the reason of it being too expensive for their personal needs.

So why would Microsoft release a slim version? The slim version would sell like hotcakes, and would be cheaper to manufacture. Consumers these days strive for deals, the way to get something cheaper but with the same experience and enjoyment.

Manufacturers and businesses strive for more money in these hard economic times. Company's these days would like some extra money floating in their pockets, we all know it.

Now you may be asking "Gee Shadow I already know about money, but what I want to know is when it will be released and what features it will have?" The honest answer to both of those questions is simply I don't know.

None of us know except for the big corporal jockeys in Microsoft sitting around their huge conference room debating on whether Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks has better coffee. All I can give is my predictions.

See, Microsoft is laying off jobs left and right, mainly because of insufficient funds to keep their salaries. Microsoft needs the money to roll in, and this would be a good way to get a new product into the market and watch it make money.

When will it be released? I would dare to say sometime later this year. As I said, companies need money, and a slim could certainly help Microsoft. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!

How to Copy Tunes/Videos from iPod Direct to PS3

Introduction:

Ever wanted to find an easy way to transfer your music/video collection to your PS3? Well, here's your chance! With this guide, you can finally get your music/videos on your PS3!

Procedure for Music:

1. Connect your iPod to your PS3 like you would with your computer.
2. The iPod will show up as USB DEVICE (iPod)
3. Press triangle, and hit display all when highlighting the iPod in the music section of the XMB.
4. Go into the folder iPod_control.
5. Go to the folder Music.
6. You will now see a lot of folders that begin with the letter F. Press triangle, and select copy all.
7. The PS3 will now start to copy your music.
8. Once it finishes, go to the music section in the XMB, and there's your music!

Procedure for Videos:

Q. Will the PS3 read the ID3 tags?
A. Yes, it will.

Q. How long does the copying process take?
A. About 20 minutes per 400 songs.

Q. Does the music/videos lose any quality?
A. No, it does not.

Guidlines From Paolo Baroja

PS3 Media Server v1.04 Update Now Available!

Another PS3 Media Server update is upon us, and to quote developer ps3mediaserver:

Here's the new version!... some explanations about the new "video copy" feature: in previous versions, you couldn't copy any transcoded videos on your ps3, due to a virtual size of 94gb... now it's possible, with this option enabled.

Be careful: if you want to use that feature, it's recommended to set a reasonable bandwidth limit in transcode options, because transcoded videos will have no fixed size, and you could fill up your ps3's hard drive pretty quickly with default settings !

Microsoft officials confirms new upcoming Xbox Live Dashboard and its features

Andrew Jenkins, Microsoft’ Games and Live senior product manager, has confirmed the details about the new Xbox Live Dash update. He first stated that the system update will be made available simultaneously for all Xbox Live users to download, and there is also the option to get the update via any Xbox 360 games produced after the new Dashboard is implemented. Check out the features list below:

New 3D Interface - This is the most significant part of the upgrade. Jenkins said that the new layout is very three dimensional, with lots of visual elements which are supposed to be very appealing to the user. Also, he said the system is very easy to use, which should make navigation much simpler.

Hard Drive Game Installation - It is now possible to install an entire game to your Xbox 360, but you would still need to have the disc inserted into the drive for piracy protection purposes. However this is a good feature because the game can now access data directly from the hard drive rather than having to constantly read from the disc drive, making loading times much faster.

Very Customizable Avatars - Avatars can now be easily customized to suit your personality. With the choice of a wide range of human facial features and other apparels (hats, lipstick, bags, clothing, etc.) This gives you the option to fine tune your avatar to match your personal lifestyle, or maybe to create a totally different alter-ego.

Status Icons over Avatars - Users can now tell what each member in the online community is doing. Depending on the activity a person is participating in (e.g. watching a movie, playing games, chatting), little icons show up above their avatars, each representing a particular activity. A user would be able to look at these icons, tell what the other is doing, and possibly join the experience.

There are rumors going along with this announcement that the system is set for release some time in November 2008. Users of Rock Band 2 were told to “Check out the New XBox Experience coming in November!”, so maybe this gives us a decent clue as to when it will be launched.

Why Buy a Computer for Gaming?

You may play a fast–paced game with detailed graphics where split–second decisions mean a win or a loss, but if your computer isn’t up to par, all is lost. A gamer is only as good as their computer. Gaming computers are built to process huge amounts of information while playing online role–playing games or first–person shooters. These power PCs come with high–end graphics cards, lighting fast CPUs and even liquid cooling.

Gaming computers are equipped with numerous ports including USBs and FireWire ports on the front of the tower. This makes it easy to plug in all your peripherals including joysticks, steering wheels and other gaming devices.

These are not your typical black box desktops. Gaming computers incorporate style and portability. Many towers have transparent sides, neon lights or innovative designs so they look as good as they perform.

What to Look for in a Gaming Computer

Gaming computers have high–end graphics cards, processors and lots of RAM—those components needed to enhance your gaming experience. When considering a gaming computer you should carefully evaluate your needs. Most manufacturers provide individual customization, so you can get a desktop that will fit your gaming style and budget.

Below are the criteria TopTenREVIEWS used to evaluate gaming PCs.

* Processor – A fast CPU, or processor, will prevent lags in large or complex games like first person shooters or MMORPGs (massively multi–player online role–playing games). Some systems have dual core processors for hard–core gaming.

* Memory – A large memory allows the computer to quickly access frequently used information or programs. This is critical for gaming. A gaming PC should have between one and two GB of RAM memory and a sufficient hard drive.

* Video/Audio – A game is only as good as the graphics card supporting it. Many games have life–like, real–time images that require a high–end graphics card. Most computer manufacturers allow you to upgrade your graphics card. The sound should be a clear as the image.

* I/O Device – Some computers come with various peripherals including a mouse, keyboard, speakers and a monitor while others don’t. This may or may not be important depending on the buyer. Additionally, some gaming systems come with uniquely designed towers with sleek cases and neon lights.

* Value/Price – In this review, we looked for computers under $2000. The leading companies are value oriented—providing a lot of computer for a good price.

* Support/Warranty – The first–class manufacturers provide quality help and support through email, phone and online chat. They also provide practical warranties at no additional cost.

The Gateway FX540S is awarded the “TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award” and comes complete with an Intel Core 2 Quad processor and a 500 GB hard drive.

Gateway is an experienced company that has been around long enough to know what gamers want—a fast PC, a good graphics card and the hardware to create a truly realistic gaming experience. This computer package is still under $1500.

Gateway FX540S

Version: FX54

overall ratings

processor

The FX 540S comes standard with an Intel 2.4 Core 2 Quad Q6600. This processor runs at 2.4 GHz and has a front bus speed of 1066 MHz. Whether you play World of Warcraft, Lineage or any other demanding game, this Core 2 Quad will be up for the task.

Memory

The Gateway FX 530XV, unlike many other gaming PCs in this price range, comes standard with 3GB of RAM. This much RAM allows you to play your favorite game and perform other tasks, like running security software, at the same time.

Video/Audio

This system comes standard with an NVIDIA GeForce 8600GS 256 MB Dual DVI–Dual Link w/ HDCP and TV out. In simple terms—this card will provide good graphics during the most intense battles.

The included sound is the same type as many in the industry and will provide good sound regardless of what is shooting at you.

I/O Device

The FX540S features a media card reader and a CD/DVD RW, so you can play and burn CDs and DVDs. Also included are speakers, a mouse and a multimedia keyboard. You can connect your peripherals through the ten USB ports and three FireWire ports.

Value/Price

The Gateway FX 530XV is listed at $1319.99 with no upgrades and not including shipping and handling. This package includes everything you need to get started and is a good buy.

Support/Warranty

Gateway comes with a 1–year parts and labor warranty and the good customer service options. You can reach customer support through email, by phone or get instant online service through live chat. We used the live chat a couple of times, and only had to wait about 30 seconds.

Summary:

Gateway is a well–known name in the computer industry and the FX540S will take care of your gaming needs at an affordable price.

How Does an Xbox 360 Mod Chip Work?

Xbox 360 Cases
Xbox 360 mod chips are created for users who want to customize and tap into blocked features of the Xbox 360. Mod chips are purchased online from software creators who are constantly updating and hacking into the Xbox 360. In order to install a mod chip, you must open up the casing of your machine, which voids your warranty.
Soldering
Traditional mod chips are soldered onto specific points using a soldering gun. This is very detailed work, and one mistake can ruin your Xbox 360 machine and make it unplayable. The installation of the mod chips can also cause your system to "brick" and render itself useless.
Non-soldering
Newer mod chips can be installed without the soldering process. Instead, the mod chips are strategically placed, using pin markers in order for them to properly work. The chips come with directions and several wires that must be connected in order to run.
Rerouting
The mod chips installed on the system work by overriding settings built into the Xbox that detect copied games or game discs that were created from other countries. When the system tries to check for these things, the requests are routed or canceled by the mod chip, and the system is open to play and run any type of content.
Features
Once a mod chip is successfully installed, Xbox 360 can be customized and hacked into. Some of the most common features allow players to play burned games, view hard drive details and customize menu screens along with loading screens. A mod chip also adds more protection to an Xbox 360 by allowing users to set passwords for booting up the system.
Updates
Xbox 360 system updates can affect a mod chip's performance, so many mod chips come built with a USB adapter to enable updates. System files are installed to a USB flash drive, and that drive is plugged directly into the USB connection hub on the mod chip. Your mod chip automatically loads the data and updates the necessary changes.

Sony PSP and Nintendo DS

We pit the two handhelds against each other in a fight to the death. Or expired battery, whichever comes first.

March 28, 2005 - Now that both the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP are on store shelves in North America, it's finally time to pit them head-to-head. We've had some time to play with the American version of the PSP for a few weeks now, and we've of course had a DS around these parts for some time. Join us as we break down the systems part-by-part, feature-by-feature and determine which has the better screen(s), controls, battery life and more.

One thing to note is that this feature is meant to be as much of a timeless head-to-head as possible, and because of that the current library of games for each system wasn't really considered. Part of the reason is that both systems are relatively new (especially the PSP), and saying that one trumps the other in terms of software at this point would be foolish, especially with E3 coming up in less than two months.

With that said, on with the show...

Processing Power

This one is obviously in the PSP's favor. While the Nintendo DS has a very capable 3D chip, able to render the likes of Super Mario 64, it's no contest that the PSP has more raw power than the DS. Even the launch games (which didn't exactly have a ton of time to be developed) approach the graphical abilities of the PlayStation 2. Comparing a PS2 to the N64 is like night and day, and that's pretty much the same comparison that can be made here. Really, this one is no contest.

Winner:PSP

Screens
With the pure processing power being the first, the screens of the two systems are really the second major battlefield that the two systems are waging battle on. The PSP's screen is no-doubt a beautiful thing, though the Nintendo DS has two of them, one of them being a touch screen. So which setup is better?

It's hard to say. Each display type has its pros and cons. The PSP's screen is bright, vibrant and exceptionally clear. The viewing angle is magnificent; you can view the on-screen action from most any angle and still see a very good image. It also touts a widescreen aspect ratio and a relatively large size.

The PSP's screen isn't perfect, however. Its refresh rate isn't the greatest thing ever, rather it's far from it. While a screen full of motion can fool the eye plenty well enough, objects that move quickly against a slower or still background can bring the refresh rate problems to the forefront. Reds are especially susceptible to this. It's also a pain to keep clean, as is the system as a whole.

The Nintendo DS' strengths are in its dual-screen setup and its bottom touch screen. The ability to control on-screen actions with the touch of a stylus makes it possible for developers to create entirely different games than what's possible on other systems with conventional control systems. As well, having two separate view areas means that some of the action, information or what have you can be pushed off to the second view, making for a potentially cleaner interactive view.

When compared to the PSP, however, the Nintendo DS' screen quality falls short. The viewing angles aren't nearly as nice, and the colors and overall clarity just don't compare. It does sport a better refresh rate though, saving it from some of the blurring problems that the PSP suffers from.

So again, which setup is better? Really, this one is too close to call for either side. The PSP really wins out in quality, but the DS wins in screen interactivity and the potential for unique designs.

Winner: Tie

BatteryLife
When it comes down to battery life, the Nintendo DS is the clear winner here. The PSP needs plenty of juice to feed all that power and it drinks it a-plenty. The interesting part is that it's almost entirely variable; a game that pushes the system to its max and uses the UMD drive plenty will kill the battery faster than you can charge it. On the other hand, a simple puzzle game that rarely needs to access the drive would likely let the system run about as long as the same game on the Nintendo DS. But since most the games on the system will skew more towards the graphically-intensive variety, this one goes to the Nintendo DS.

Winner: Nintendo DS

Controls

Both systems feature the same main controller layout with a D-Pad, four main action buttons on the face of the unit and two triggers. The main differential is the PSP's analog stick vs. the DS' touch screen.

This is another hard one to call as this one obviously comes down to titles on an individual basis. If we were talking about cross-platform type games, like sports games or the like, then the PSP's analog stick is the clear winner; it just works much better as a generalized analog input device. But the DS' strength is in its ability to allow for unique input schemes, like in such games as Wario Ware Touched!

Concerning the other controls, each system has its strengths. The DS has the better set of triggers. The PSP's triggers are sort of clunky and not all that comfortable, while the DS' triggers are springier and generally more comfortable to use. The PSP features the better face buttons as they're bigger and feel more like a regular controller. The DS' face buttons are rather small. Deciding the better D-Pad is sort of a toss-up as it probably comes down to a matter of taste. Both are good, however.

When it comes down to it, the PSP features a much more standardized input system with its analog stick, though the DS allows for much greater creative design with its touch screen. Really, it's a matter of the select game at hand that decides which system has the better controls, and though the PSP will win for most mass-market games, the Nintendo DS has plenty of room for innovative control methods. But when it comes down to it, the PSP is much better suited for 99% of the games on the market.

Winner: PSP

Load Times

Like the battery life, the Nintendo DS has the huge advantage when it comes to load times. Being that the DS uses EEPROM cartridges, which are nearly identical to that of a memory card, it's able to load data much, much faster than the PSP's UMD drive. Gamers who are used to immediately jumping into a portable game may not feel at home with the PSP's load times, which like its hardware, very much mirror that of its PS2 counterpart.

Winner: Nintendo DS

Portability

Portability
By portability, we're referring to how easy it is to throw the system into your pocket or backpack and stroll off without worry of damage to the system. In this regard, the Nintendo DS' flip design takes the cake. When closed, all of the DS' important parts are enclosed and safe from bruises, bumps and scratches. The PSP, on the other hand, requires that you slip it into some sort of case in order to protect its screen. No matter how good the screen looks out of the box, it'll look like crap very quickly if you don't take care of it to protect it from scratches.

Size-wise, the difference between the two systems is rather negligible. When closed, the DS is a little taller and wider than the PSP, though the PSP is a little longer. In any direction the difference is no more than about an inch, which given the size of the systems isn't very much. Either system will fit in your pocket, though not very comfortably unless it's a very large pocket. Weight is also a non-issue with either system.

When it comes down to it, the DS is more portable in and of itself. The PSP requires some sort of casing, and even though the PSP Value Pack comes with a pretty nice slip cloth, it won't protect it a whole lot from things slamming up against it. The DS seems like it would naturally hold up better to bumps and bruises. Granted, you can outfit the PSP with a nice metal case that should protect it from anything, but the same could be said about practically any device.

Winner: Nintendo DS

Media

The Nintendo DS uses Game Cards, capable of storing up to 128MB of data as of now, though larger chips could theoretically be used to increase that size at some point in the future. Cost and whatnot obviously plays a factor there. The DS is also capable of playing Game Boy Advance games, so that's worth mentioning here.

The PSP uses UMD discs, capable of holding up to 1.8GB of data. While it can't write to those discs for saves, the PSP also makes use of Memory Stick Duos for saves and media. Memory Stick Duo media is currently available in 1GB versions with 2GB versions on the very near horizon.

Really, the only thing in the DS' favor when it comes to media is its faster read speeds, which as mentioned earlier is a pretty big difference. However, the PSP is capable of much more with its media ports. With its UMD discs, games can be exponentially larger than those on the DS. Large games with tons of art may be plentiful on the system, as could cutscenes. Using a Memory Stick Duo, gamers can easily trade save files either by swapping cards or copying their saves to their PCs via the PSP's USB port. Add in the ability to copy audio and movies to the system and you have a much more robust media setup.

Winner: PSP

Wireless

The fully-fleshed-out capabilities of both systems really have yet to be seen. It was recently announced at this year's Game Developer's Conference that the Nintendo DS will soon have full online support for multiplayer via its wireless connection, putting it on par with the PSP's wireless capabilities. The PSP has supported games on the shelf as of this writing, while the DS does not. Still, they're on the way and at this point it's hard to say which system will make better use of it. And actually, it'll almost certainly be up to the developer on that end, so this is really a tie.

Winner: Tie

Final Word

If you add up the tallies, it comes out to Nintendo DS: 3, PSP: 3, Tie: 2, or an overall tie. But that doesn't really tell the whole story. If you look at the category winners, the PSP takes the system power, control and media categories while the Nintendo DS takes battery life, portability and load times.

So in theory, the Nintendo DS is a better portable system but the PSP is the better all-around system. This seems like a fair enough assessment and the final word we'll stick with.

Negatives and Positives of xbox360 and ps3

PS3:
Positives:

-Better hardware. It's a much more powerful machine.
-Better processing power
-Bluray disks can hold expansively more data than 360 HDdvd disks
-PS3 has 7 core processers, as oppossed to the Xbox360's 3 processers.
-Uses Cell proccessing.
-Standard HD
Free online play
-Able to install Linux

Negetives:

-Not a lot of great games.- System still seems to be developing support from the industry
-Third-party game support is almost non-existant (SONY relies primarily on its own companies and partners to develop games for it)
-The cell processer is too hard for developers to work with at the time.
- Online play is laggy, glitched, not as immersive as Xbox live.
- Most companies that previously developed games specifically for SONY are either making their games multiplatform or moving them exclusively to the 360
- Complete lack of RPG titles (The PS3 currently has around eight to ten)
-Very expensive (Around $100 more)
- Must instal games into the hard drive (Consumes hard drive quickly)

XBOX360:
Positives:

-Best online play available.
-Online play is cheap (About $45 a year)
-Wide variety of Shooters, action games and RPGs specifically
-Better third-party support
-Optional hard drives
-Much smoother interface
-Cheaper than PS3
- Far more exclusive titles
-More blockbuster games
-Recent price drop
-Optional hard drive installation
-Ability to access MSN messenger from console
-You will soon have the ability to have Netflix movies sent directly to your 360 via your internet connection and watch them on your TV.

Negetives:

-HDDs are over priced.
-37% fail rate in systems
-HDdvds are far smaller in capacity
- Does not have the processing power of the PS3

My thoughts:

While the 360 is a much weaker machine schematically, there are no developers willing to utilize the PS3's abilities or processing power. I mentioned that the PS3 has 7 cores and the 360 has 3, however not a single game to date has used even all of one of these cores to play, and I highly doubt there ever will be. The space on disks essentially means games made for the PS3 can be larger/longer, so some games ported to the 360 may take multiple disks.

In essence, the 360 is stronger right now in the area of GAMES, but is using its full abilities. The PS3 has yet to be tested by any game. So in the long run the PS3 MAY push past the 360 and leave it in the dust. But right now the 360 is where to go if you want games in the short term (Good games now. Rather than hoping good games will be made for the PS3)
